Indian Inspired – Vibrant, Bold, Easy to Love
Local couple, born in South India, Lakshmi (Tom) & Padma Thanu are owners of the very successful Bellevue restaurant Spice Route. They opened the stylish MokSHA Bellevue in 2012.
Tom is a former techie (Intel, Microsoft) who identified that the healthy, flavorful, clean food he knew from his home was not available on Seattle’s eastside. Drawing on the fact that his family in India are restaurant owners of great magnitude, Tom creates recipes and spice combinations himself overseeing culinary operations with a keen eye for taste and quality.
Indian inspired, light and contemporary menu. We feature sharable/small plates or tapas style dishes, thalis – bento box style presentation, sizzlers, fresh hot breads, delicious curries and a myriad of Indian beers, wines, mocktails and cocktails. Our menu has gluten free, nut free, vegan, vegetarian and halal food products.
We believe in choosing the best ingredients – our lamb, for example is hormone free, grass fed, free range and halal. We use spices and herbs that nourish and heal the body – fresh ginger, fresh garlic, fenugreek, whole cumin, whole coriander, turmeric, fresh mint, fresh curry leaves, to name a few. We use halal meat in our food products. All of our sauces are slow cooked to perfection from scratch. Many dishes are baked in our tandoori oven, giving food a deeply flavored, smoky element. We also hand-craft a series of freshly baked tandoor naan breads all day long; fresh hot breads are made on demand.
Attractive, modern and relaxed, with designer touches throughout; guests are greeted by a bright bar area and a well-stocked selection of libations and specialty cocktails. Very high ceilings feature ethereal, gossamer-like light fixtures, over seating groupings of turmeric orange and chili red upholstered banquettes. Turquoise and metallic accents complete the striking, welcoming, dining room and bar.
